Lesson 4 - Building a Drawing

Use all principles of lessons 1-4 to complete a drawing.

An artist begins a drawing by sketching. Sketching is creating a quick preliminary drawing in which basic information about a subject is captured through any number of drawing techniques. It is an integral part of the creative art process and has been used by artists throughout the course of history. It is in the sketch phase that artists discover their subject matter and begin to plan out ideas. These discoveries lay the groundwork for complete drawings.
